While adults are the chief protectors of children, there are still items that we can teach children to be able to protect themselves when faced with tough situations. To help you keep your child protected we are providing parents and guardians with this very important and necessary lesson guide and instruction. These are parent led at-home lessons by Virtus which are a diocesan mandate to our curriculum. These lessons will give children the tools they need to help us keep them safe by educating them regarding boundaries, safe and unsafe behaviors, and healthy relationships.
This is a mandatory Diocesan program which began in Fall 2023 for Corpus Christi Parish Faith Formation and continues with a six-year cycle with one lesson each year. The 2024 - 2025 is Year TWO in the cycle with Lesson Two: Safe Adults, Safe Touches and Special Safe Adults. Completing this will keep our parish compliant with the United States Catholic Conference of Bishops (USCCB) “Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People.”
If you have multiple children, we highly suggest that you separate the younger children from the older children during these videos and lessons. The lessons are age appropriate and some of the content for the older children may not be suitable for all.
